Netflix has introduced a new tier to its lineup for customers. Titled “Basic with ads,” users pay $7 a month to watch the streaming service’s content in 720p with ads. However, due to licensing rights, there are more than a few movies and TV shows not included in this plan. In fact, there are over 250 titles that are simply locked away from those using the ad tier.
The new ad-tier does a very good job at hiding content you can’t access from your home screen. Occasionally, in the Top 10 sections, you’ll see a movie with a red lock in the upper-right hand corner of the image. However, there’s no real easy way to find all the content you can’t watch with an ad-tier account.
So we went through Netflix’s search, for hours, to find every movie and TV show we were locked out of, and there were a lot of surprises. Licensing agreements can be a bit tricky, and most of the time, we have no clue as to what the details are, but there were some obvious things we figured out along the way.
First and foremost, there is a lot of Netflix Original content you cannot access with this basic with ads account. The majority of it is tied to Dreamworks Animation. Boss Baby, Trollhunter, Madagascar, and more are locked. Of course, given that these are aimed at younger audiences, perhaps Netflix is looking into a way to make sure only age-appropriate ads are played.
Back in March, Amazon purchased MGM, so Prime Videos’ movie catalog is growing by leaps and bounds. What’s the biggest franchise to come out of MGM? Bond, James Bond. Most likely because of the new ownership of 007, Netflix can only include the Daniel Craig Bond movies in tiers without ads.In addition to Amazon-owned content, we found content from Telemundo locked as well.
On the straight-to-digital side of things, there are a surprising number of John Travolta and Sylvester Stallone movies from the past two decades that are locked out, and these are movies you may have never heard of before.
In order to watch all of these shows and movies, you’ll have to upgrade your plan. There are three tiers higher than basic with ads, and none of them are ad-supported, but of course, you’ll have to pay more. There’s basic for $10 a month, which is the same as basic with ads but without the ads. There’s standard for $15.50 a month, which bumps up the HD quality to 1080p. And there’s premium for $20, which bumps the quality up to 4K UHD, though it’s worth noting that every title isn’t available in 4K. It’s also worth pointing out that basic with ads is the only tier where you can’t download content on a supported device to watch later.Venir de Tragamonedas Gratis Online

Note: This list applies to Netflix in the United States. Each country has their own licensing agreements and outside of the US, there may be items on this list that are watchable or items that are locked that are watchable in the US. Additionally, because there’s no easy way to see what items are locked to ad-tier subscribers, there may be a select few missing from our list.
